Aged care is changing – BlueCare is here to support you
You may remember we wrote to you before Christmas about some important changes coming to aged care. At BlueCare, we’ve been busy getting ready for these changes and will be working with you in the coming months to ensure you are ready too.
We also wanted to let you know that the government will be holding webinars for all customers with Home Care Packages to talk about the changes and to answer questions you may have.
What's changing?
For our Home Care Package clients
From 1 July 2025, a new program called Support at Home will replace the current Home Care Packages (HCP). This new program offers more flexibility, with eight different levels of support and up to $78,000 in care funding each year, depending on your needs.
The kinds of support you can receive include:
- Health care – such as nursing, physio and other clinical services
- Help at home – including showering, dressing and managing medication
- Household tasks – like cleaning, gardening, shopping and meal prep
For our Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) clients
If you're currently receiving care through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), the changes will come later – not before 1 July 2027. But if you're thinking about moving to a higher level of support in future, it’s worth learning what’s ahead.
Want to learn more?
The Department of Health and Aged Care is holding free information sessions across Queensland – and online – to help you understand what’s changing.
These sessions will cover:
- What the new Support at Home program is all about
- What Home Care Package clients need to know before 1 July 2025
- A chance to ask questions directly
You can book by:
- 📞 Calling (07) 2114 0316
- 📧 Emailing engagement.qld@health.gov.au
- 💻 Registering online
It would be helpful for you, your family or carers to attend and learn more about the changes.
Can't make it?
That’s okay – there’s also a helpful guide available that explains everything in more detail, including how funding will work and what the changes mean for you:

We'll be with you through the changes
Aside from learning more about the changes, there’s nothing you need to do right now. In the coming months, your local BlueCare team will be in touch to explain what the changes mean – specifically for you. We’ll work with you to make sure your care plan is right for your needs, and that you’re making the most of your available funding.
