A story made possible

Each time children from our local daycare visit BlueCare, magic happens.

Through our Tiny Hands, Big Hearts program, these regular visits create meaningful connections as children and residents share stories, activities, and precious moments together.

The program partners young children with residents, fostering relationships that grow stronger with each visit through shared activities, storytelling, and creative play.

Thanks to the kindness of caring supporters, we’ve been able to purchase special keepsake books called “My Grandfriends are Coming!” for our residents. During visits, children and residents read together, using these books to spark conversations and share experiences.

Even between visits, these books serve as treasured reminders of their growing friendships.

Betty*, one of our residents, lights up when her young friend visits. Together, they settle into Betty’s favourite armchair, their book open across their laps.

“Even when the children aren’t here, I can open this book and remember all our special moments together”, Betty shared, her eyes twinkling.

These keepsake books have become valuable tools in nurturing these beautiful friendships, especially meaningful for residents experiencing memory loss.

Through the generosity of caring people like you, what began as a simple book has become a precious bridge between generations, creating lasting connections that enrich both young and older lives.

With continued support, we hope to expand this heartwarming initiative to more BlueCare communities across Queensland.
