BlueCare Cloncurry and Mount Isa have taken some of their clients on the outback trip of a lifetime to nearby Richmond for three days of exploring and adventure.

Staff and volunteers from the BlueCare Cloncurry and Mount Isa Community Centres have been fundraising for over 12 months to assist with the cost of taking their clients on a weekend away which featured a full itinerary and an impromptu visit from a camel.

Fourteen clients ventured 406 kilometres east of Mount Isa to Richmond, famous for its recently unearthed fossils of prehistoric marine creatures.

BlueCare North Queensland Multi Service Manager Helen Davis said the trip reflected BlueCare’s desire to support their clients and their families to live the best life possible at any stage of their life journey.

“BlueCare has been supporting Queenslanders for over 60 years and community is at the heart of what we do.

“BlueCare supports residents and clients to continue to do the things they love, and facilitating trips like this is an important part of the service we provide our clients here in Cloncurry and Mount Isa” she said.

The trip included lots of exciting activities such as a visit to the dinosaur museum Kronosaurus Corner, lunch at Richmond Aged Care at the invitation of the Richmond Shire Council and a tour of the bougainvillea’s of Richmond town.

“There was a lot of laughter, many yarns and really lovely memories made for the clients who all thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

“Giving the clients the opportunity to go on an adventure and experience new things was really important to the teams at our Cloncurry and Mount Isa Community Centres, who genuinely care about the clients and want to ensure they have positive and happy experiences” Ms Davis said.

BlueCare has 77 community centres across Queensland that provide a range of services including respite care, home care, disability services and social activities.
