BlueCare Launches Care Technology Services

BlueCare is working with a number of partners on a unique telehealth pilot program that is supporting people to better manage their health and live independently in the community.
BlueCare Executive Director Robyn Batten said the introduction of the technology offers people greater options for service delivery and an opportunity for BlueCare to further support people in their own homes.
“It has been great to work with Telstra Health to develop the My Care Manager remote clinical monitoring solution,” Ms Batten said.
“The technology complements existing partnering arrangements we have in place with NeoRehab for telehealth, and Tunstall Healthcare for assistive technology.
“People who are part of the demonstration use a tablet computer with wireless sensors to measure blood pressure, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels.
“They can also take part in a video call with health professionals for nursing or physiotherapy appointments, or for assistance with medication.
“The information that is gathered is transmitted back securely to the BlueCare nursing team, who can alert clinical staff to any issues, or tailor a medication or dietary change for each client.
“Using this technology we will be able to detect and address many issues before they become a problem, assisting people with wellness and potentially reducing GP visits and hospital stays, or even preventing them entirely.”
“We have also found that people benefit from increased confidence as their health is being monitored on a far more regular basis than before, and as they operate the devices themselves it gives them a more active role in their own healthcare.
“There are advantages for BlueCare too. The care we provide to our clients can be tailored to suit them even more than we do already, because we’ll have so much more consistent health information.
“We believe this team is delivering a unique and incredibly valuable proposition for our clients.”
Narelle Leong, Telstra Health’s Head of Telehealth Services said that the partnership between BlueCare and Telstra Health was bringing healthcare into the digital age.
“We’re delighted to work with BlueCare to help them transform the way they deliver healthcare, using technology to improve the quality and efficiency of care for both their clients and staff,” Ms Leong said.
Should the trial be successful it may be rolled out across other locations in Queensland.
