There are many disability and lifestyle supports available to help you live life your way, and it’s good to know that federal and state government funding may be available to help you pay for them. We have put together this guide to the main disability support funding options, how they work, and how to access them.

To find out more about the NDIS and the services BlueCare is offering, please call our friendly team on 1300 778 081.

NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the biggest change in recent years to the way funding and support is delivered to people with a disability. It is available to people aged between seven and 65 and is designed to give you choice and control over the supports you need to live an ordinary life.

If you are eligible for the NDIS, you:

  • Decide what your goals are.
  • Meet with the National Disability Insurance Agency (or designated Local Area Co-ordinator).
  • Receive a plan outlining the amount of money you will receive to fund particular supports.
  • Choose who will provide those supports and services.

You can even control your own funds. The amount of money you will receive depends entirely on your goals and needs, so no two plans will look the same. Find out more about how to plan for and access the NDIS, and check out our Frequently Asked Questions.

At BlueCare, we know the NDIS has the potential to transform lives, and we offer a range of disability support services to make sure you get the most out of your NDIS plan. Call our friendly team on 1300 778 081.

Queensland Community Support Scheme

The Queensland government-funded Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS) is designed to increase wellness and independence for people with:

  • A disability who are not eligible for the NDIS.
  • A chronic illness, mental health or other condition.
  • Circumstances that affect your ability to live independently in the community.

It provides support with domestic activities, personal care and basic home maintenance to help you to regain or maintain your independence and stay living independently and safely in your own home. It also provides support to access your community.

Find out more on the Queensland Government website.

Fee-for-service

Under the fee-for-service option, you can privately fund your disability and lifestyle support services. This might be an option if you:

  • Are not eligible for the NDIS or QCCS.
  • Are eligible for the NDIS but are waiting for your NDIS plan to come through.
  • Are receiving government funding but would like to purchase an additional service on top of what that funding allows.
  • Require supports that are not currently funded.

Call our friendly team on 1300 778 081 to discuss your support requirements.
