Blue Care Mareeba to open palliative care room
Blue Care Mareeba Garden Settlement aged care facility will open its new dedicated palliative care room thanks to funds donated by the Granite Masonic Lodge and Hand Heart Pocket.
The room will be officially opened on Monday, with a plaque unveiling and morning tea for residents, staff and members of the Granite Masonic Lodge.
Blue Care North Queensland General Manager Liz Brown thanked the Granite Masonic Lodge and Hand Heart Pocket while highlighting how the room will provide a continuation of Blue Care’s commitment to holistic care.
“When a loved one has to receive palliative care it is very hard, so we are glad we can provide this space to our residents and their families during what is an incredibly difficult time,” she said.
“Blue Care is very grateful to the Granite Masonic Lodge and the Hand Heart Pocket program for their donation which has resulted in a palliative care room that is peaceful and allows our team to continue their high standard of care in a private and comforting space” Ms Brown said.
Granite Masonic Lodge provided Blue Care with the funds through their Hand Heart Pocket program which enabled the recent build.
John Collins, Treasurer of the Lodge, said Hand Heart Pocket was established to provide financial assistance to Masonic Lodges in Queensland who wish to donate to a cause in their district.
