“This village is exactly what you make it.”
She found the suburbs too quiet. Since moving in she's started a social Rummikub group and helped the village raise $10,000 for flood relief — which is a lot of raffle tickets and a lot of people saying yes.
That's the honest version of what a village is. Not a service you buy. A room full of people who'll join in if you start something.
And she is not the only one.

No form to complete, no "request a copy". They're just here, whether you ever ring us or not.
One thing worth saying plainly: You buy into a village here, you don't rent.
You'll see the word lease in our contracts, and it's fair enough to read that as renting — it isn't. A lease here means you pay an ingoing contribution once, the home is yours for as long as you want it, and most of that money comes back when you leave. No weekly rent, no landlord deciding whether you can stay.
Which does mean it isn't the right fit for everyone, and we'd rather you knew now than after a phone call. If renting is what you're after, here's where to start looking instead — a different part of the housing system, with people who do it far better than we would.

Yes — pets are welcome with prior approval. Have a chat with the village team before you move in so everything can be sorted.
Absolutely. Friends and family are welcome to stay. For longer visits, it’s best to check with the village manager first.
If you’re moving in on your own, you need to be at least 60. For couples, one person must be 60 or over and the other at least 55.
