A community that looks out for each other

That relaxed lifestyle is supported by a welcoming community where residents look out for one another and are always ready to offer companionship or a helping hand.

“We’re here to help each other, and if ever you’re in trouble or you need a bit of company, there’s always somebody to call on,” she said.
 

“I feel so secure and so comfortable here. The residents are just so friendly. You can pop in for a cuppa anytime you like.”

Bringing people together through shared interests

Gardening has become an important part of life at New Haven and has helped bring residents together.

“The garden here before I came was nothing. There was one plant in it, and that’s that one tree there,” one resident said.

“I have definitely encouraged a lot of people in New Haven to get into gardening. The gardening has brought the community together.”

There are also plenty of opportunities for residents to continue doing the things they love and explore new creative interests.

“I do so many things. I started doing a little bit of mosaics and I love doing my weaving,” she said.

“I’ve got three looms and they’re always in play. They’ve always got something on them.”

Pets are also welcome at New Haven and have become another much-loved part of village life.

“We are allowed to have pets here at New Haven. We have five in the village and they all get along together so well,” she said.

“There are actually a few cats and a bird as well.”

Beach walks, coffee and staying connected

New Haven’s Redcliffe location makes it easy for residents to enjoy the nearby beach, boardwalk, shops and public transport.

“I love my walk every morning down to the boardwalk. We are very close to the beach, and I meet my friends there,” one resident said.

“My reward is a coffee at the other end.”

Being close to local amenities also helps residents remain connected with the wider Redcliffe community.

“I feel very connected here at the village. There are buses just down the road and the shops are very close to us as well,” she said.

“We go for walks down to the beach. If you walk along there in the early morning, you can meet so many people down there.”

A beautiful place to call home

For Christina and Anita, New Haven is a place where they feel supported, comfortable and truly at home.

“I don’t know what my next chapter will be, but I’m sure it won’t be anywhere far from here,” one resident said.
 

“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. It is such a beautiful community and such a lovely place to live. I don’t want to live anywhere else.”
