Yarning sessions around the fire pit, the occasional taste of turtle, crocodile and sop sop, and the sounds of didjeridu are all on the cards for Pinangba’s Shalom Elders Village, which sits on Bindal and Wulgurukaba Country in Townsville.

With 28 beds catering to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Shalom provides comfortable residential aged care in a culturally supportive environment, while building connections with First Nations groups in the Townsville community.

We pride ourselves on our genuine commitment to making residents feel part of an extended and welcoming community, building a stronger future, together. To that end, we are introducing more music and dance, didjeridu, weaving, and traditional foods on top of our cooking sessions, storytelling and outings on the site-owned buses.

Our residents can make use of several shared areas, including gardens and dining rooms. Food is cooked fresh on site by our chef. And we are close to community amenities and public transport, including shops, medical services, community services, entertainment, parks, church, a playground, taxi and bus.

Our services are delivered by Pinangba, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander group of services, where family and belonging are at the heart of everything we do. We are part of the UnitingCare family and operated by BlueCare. To find out more about life in an aged care home, read BlueCare's Resident Information Book.
