Residents at BlueCare aged care facilities in the Bundaberg region were treated to an exciting stage performance by entertainers from Blue Gum Farm TV this week.

Described as a ‘fun, real life TV program’, Blue Gum Farm TV has traditionally catered to pre-school aged children, but their new project, ‘Young at Heart’, is designed for elderly residents of Queensland’s regional towns.

BlueCare General Manager Jane Jackson said having the performance taking place across four BlueCare facilities is a great win for residents and the community.

“Providing our residents with varied, exciting activities and initiatives is something we strive to do every day at BlueCare,” Ms Jackson said.

“Many of our residents have lived in the Bundaberg area for many years, and feel a strong connection with regional Queensland. Having their stories come to life through music, song and storytelling will be a moving experience.”

Blue Gum Farm TV creator Cilla Pershouse said the show is a wonderful celebration and tribute to local elders.

“The ‘Young at Heart’ project engages local professional and emerging artists to write, compose and perform a series of songs and stories that have been contributed by local elderly residents,” Ms Pershouse said.

“Local residents have so much to contribute through their stories, memories and knowledge. Involving elderly people from the community in crafting the content of this show is a privilege.”
