Step 1

Lay the groundwork

  • Check your eligibility at
  • Read up on the topic and start preparing early
  • Kick-off pre-planning with us so you know exactly what you want to get out of the NDIS

Start the conversation with the NDIS

  • When the NDIS calls you for the first time, speak up if something’s not clear
  • Always ask to meet your NDIS planner face-to-face
  • Note down appointment details and contact names

Get the most out of your NDIS meeting

  • Communicate your goals and needs clearly at your first meeting
  • Bring all your supporting documents. Write down questions in advance
  • Take someone to support you and write notes

Double-check your plan

  • When you receive your NDIS plan, read through it carefully
  • Tell the NDIS if something is incorrect or missing
  • Tell us and other service providers that you’ve received your plan

Find a trusted provider

  • If you need multiple services, ask a provider you trust to be your Support Coordinator
  • Research your options and providers thoroughly before you commit

Finalise your service delivery team

  • Set up Service Agreements with your providers
  • Be clear about what you want to achieve and how you’d like your services to be delivered
  • Double check your Service Agreements before you sign

Track your progress

  • Once your plan is in action, track your supports in a diary or digital calendar
  • Tell the NDIS if you’re unhappy with anything or if your circumstances change

Reflect & adjust

  • At your annual review, consider whether your current goals have been met
  • Note down new goals for the future
  • Make a list of any changes to your needs and personal circumstances
