Q. I am having problems at home due to frailty and/or age. What type of help can Blue Care give?
A. Blue Care staff can visit and do a full assessment and can then put in place appropriate assistance eg. home help, respite and refer on to other agencies if needed.

Q. I am coping with most things but find I need help with bathing. What type of help can Blue Care give?
A. Blue Care staff can visit and do a full assessment and can then put in place all types of appropriate assistance. Home visits for bathing assistance can be arranged on a regular basis.

Q. How do I or my relative organise entry into aged care (nursing home or hostel)?
A. An Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) assessment and approval is necessary for entry into low and high care facilities. ACAT contact details are available through Commonwealth Carelink Centres on 1800 052 222. All residential facilities now use a common application form available through Commonwealth Carelink - this must be completed prior to admission. We recommend that you make a time to inspect any facility that you are considering and discuss any concerns or questions you may have with the Director of Nursing.

Q. What is high care and low care?
A.High care is a term used to describe nursing homes where people require 24 hour care. Low care is used to describe hostels where people require care and assistance but not at the level of a nursing home.

Q. What activities are available for residents?
A. All residential aged care facilities have a diversional therapist or activities officer on staff providing recreational programs and a range of activities for residents. Some activities are in groups, whilst others may be arranged individually. These programs vary so please contact your centre for more information.

Q. Do you have Independent Living Units?
