Research
We strive to provide quality health and care services to our clients. As part of this commitment we pursue a range of research activities that help us become a national leader in quality care.
Research is central to the delivery of evidence-based practice and facilitates an organisational culture committed to continuous improvement.
We are involved in a large variety of research projects that have the potential to address barriers to quality care and result in enhanced care for clients. The research outcomes have far-reaching possibilities for the delivery of health care services in the health, community and residential aged care sectors.
In line with our pursuit of excellence we have also forged a formal academic link with The University of Queensland and developed The University of Queensland/Blue Care Research and Practice Development Centre.
This is a significant collaborative initiative that strengthens academic / industry partnerships and provides mutual benefit to both organisations. The Director of the Centre is Associate Professor Deborah Parker.
In addition, the University of Queensland / Blue Care Research and Practice Development Centre became a collaborating centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute, the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Community Care (ACEBCC).
Conducting research within Blue Care
In order to ensure that proposed research is consistent with UnitingCare Queensland's key areas and Blue Care's Strategic Directions, prospective applicants must adhere to the following steps:
- First submit a Research Outline to the Blue Care Research Approval Group (BC RAG). For further information, see: Instructions to Researchers interested in conducting research within Blue Care and Blue Care Research Approval Group Application Meeting dates.
- If the researcher believes that the project is a quality assurance (QA) activity and NOT research then they must fill out the Quality Assurance Checklist and submit with their research outline for consideration by the BCRAG. If approval is granted by BC RAG to proceed, applicants are invited to apply to the UnitingCare Queensland Human Research Ethics Committee (UCQHREC) for ethics approval. Please refer to the UCQ Human Research Ethics Committee website to download and submit relevant application documents. UnitingCare Queensland can be contacted on 07 3025 2000.
- By submitting an Ethics application (if a research project)
- If deemed a Quality Assurance activity, submit the BC RAG Research Outline and the QA Checklist.
Please refer to the UCQ Human Research Ethics Committee website to download and submit relevant application documents. UnitingCare Queensland can be contacted on 07 3025 2000.
